Class Descriptions

PUPPY KINDERGARTEN (For Ages 10 weeks to 6 months)
Puppy Kindergarten is a 6 week class designed to introduce you and your puppy to some basic skills (sit, down, stay,
come when called, walking nicely on a leash).  We will also provide ways of dealing with the “7 Deadly Sins of Puppy Hood”:
barking, biting, chewing digging, potty training, jumping and running away!
We emphasize socialization to people and other dogs.  Treats are used as a gentle lure/reward method to teach your puppy that
training is fun. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES. You will need a 4’ or 6’ lead with fabric or leather buckle.
Puppy Kindergarten is offered as a six week course for $80.00.

BEGINNER OBEDIENCE* (For Ages 6 months and older)
The goal of this class is to help you get basic control over your dog.  You will learn to teach your dog obedience commands
of heel, sit, down, stay, come and finish.  It also addresses bad behaviors such as barking, jumping on people, etc.
Along with these basics, you learn how dogs manipulate owners and how to stop it.
Handlers must be 14 years old.

INTERMEDIATE OBEDIENCE* (Beginner Obedience prerequisite)
This 8-week class follows a completed Beginner Obedience Class.  In this class the beginner exercises are polished and
new exercises, including stand for exam, figure 8, long sit and long down with handler across the room and a recall with
the handler across the room will be introduced.  Teams will also begin off-lead work.  Emphasis in all exercises will be
placed on developing positive teamwork between the dog and the handler.  Proofing of all exercises is done to teach the dog to
respond correctly regardless of what is going on around him/her.  This class may be repeated until the dog/handler team
reach their goals or instructor feels the team is ready for advancement.  From this class students often move on to the
Novice Polish Class to begin their competitive obedience careers, take a Rally Obedience Class to prepare for Rally competition,
start agility classes, get their CGC’s, go on to Therapy Dog training/work, or other aspirations.
This class is limited to 12 dog/handler teams.

NOVICE OBEDIENCE* (Intermediate Obedience and approval of instructor required)
Students who are interested in beginning their competitive obedience careers will continue to polish and proof all novice level
obedience exercises.  Focus on teamwork and attention continues and as the teams progress, a foundation is laid for Open
and Utility level exercises.  Obedience and Rally Ring procedures are addressed in the class.
Novice Polish is limited to 12 dog/handler teams.

BEGINNERS JUMPERS WITH WEAVES
This class is designed for participants who have previous agility experience, or with instructor approval.
We will introduce the dogs to the various jumps, as well as a 6 pole set of weave-a-matics.
Common patterns will be covered, such as pinwheels and serpentines, and the class will be completing short sequences
by the end of the session.
This class is limited to 8 dog/handler teams.

ADVANCED JUMPERS WITH WEAVES
This class is designed for participants who have previous agility experience, either in class or competition.
More advanced patterns will be taught, and longer sequences. Improving weave pole performance, with attention to
weave pole entrances will also be a focus of this class.
